The most extraordinary band to ever be, this blog is a small, clumsy journal of the marvellous past times the artists came to experience.

So here are The Beatles - The last great band in black and white

July 6, 1964: George, famished, gives a thumbs up to fans at the Hard Day’s Night premiere party at the Dorchester Hotel.
This, after having been told the food simply cannot be rolled out until Margaret and Snowdon have finished with their courtesies. George says to the princess, as delicately as he can,

“Your highness, we really are hungry and we can’t eat until you two go.”

George does not have time for your courtesies, Princess, if his time to be able to eat is at stake

Birthday Jam in Austria
March 1965 - The photo is by Henry Grossman from his book, Places I Remember: My Time With the Beatles. They were celebrating a crew member’s birthday in a hotel bar/club in Austria. Excerpt from Henry Grossman’s book:
In our downtime, we all congregated in the area’s hotels, restaurants and bars, passing the time with conversation and card games. There was little else to do, so we entertained ourselves. One evening was particularly memorable. A large group of us were in the bierstube of one of the hotels. This was a modest sized room with a few tables, a bar, a small dance floor, and a house band that played lounge music. We were celebrating a crew member’s birthday, but none of us anticipated the treat we would receive that night. Dick Lester recalled the evening wonderful detail on the Help! DVD: “[The hotel] had a sort of beer cellar which had a resident three-piece band, and my assistant director, a man called Clive Reed, had a birthday. The band played for a while, and then we turfed them off and said, ‘That’s fine, goodbye.’ And Paul got onto drums and I went onto the piano and John and George took turns [on guitar]. And it just started…. and kept going and going and I think we played ‘till about three in the morning, at which point we all drunkenly went to bed.”

Over the years I had forgotten whose birthday we had been celebrating or exactly what songs were played, but I have never forgotten that night. There was something special about this impromptu concert. In retrospect, I think it was because John and Paul were playing because they wanted to… Watching them that night in Austria - full of beer, jumping from one rock and roll classic to another - must have been like seeing them in Hamburg before they became world famous. They were having a ball, as happy as I ever saw them. It was the highlight of our stay in Austria. I only wish the lighting in the room had been better. The few photos I captured were underexposed but they still convey some of the joy and excitement of the performance.

Thank you dearly for the information:3
